'F-1 Visa Revoked': Why U.S. Is Asking Hundreds of International Students to Self-Deport | 29 March 2025 | Hundreds of international students studying in the US have received emails from the U.S. Department of State, telling them to self-deport as their F-1 visas (student visas) have been revoked owing to campus activism. The crackdown is not limited to students who physically participated in campus activism, but people who shared or even liked "anti-national" posts have reportedly also been targeted in these emails. Some Indian students may also be at the receiving end of such emails, for something as innocuous as sharing a social media post, The Times of India reported, quoting Immigration attorneys who confirmed the development. The diktat followed U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's announcement about the revocation of several international students' visas for so-called anti-national activities.
