National Guard shooter is revealed to be Afghan Army vet who served with U.S. troops as Trump blasts Biden for flying him in amid disastrous 2021 withdrawal and orders mass migrant re-screening | 26 Nov 2025 | The man accused of shooting two National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., served in the Afghan Army for 10 years alongside U.S. Special Forces before he was flown to America as part of the military’s disastrous 2021 withdrawal. Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, was on Wednesday named as the alleged gunman in custody over the horror shoot-out just yards from the White House, which has left two soldiers in a critical condition. President Donald Trump slammed former president [sic] Joe Biden for facilitating his arrival to the U.S. under Operation Allies Welcome, arguing the American people are deservedly filled with “righteous anger and enormous resolve” after the revelation. It is understood Lakanwal was settled in Bellingham, Washington.
