WTC worker who ‘narrowly escaped’ Sept. 11 terror attacks beaten to death by 3 teens – cops | 27 Nov 2025 | A former World Trade Center worker who “narrowly escaped” the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks has been beaten to death by three teens, according to officials. Long Island native Roger Borkum, 64, was found “severely beaten” just before midnight on Oct. 19 in Downtown Jacksonville, FL., after three teens were seen “kicking and stomping” him, according to an arrest report from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The attackers were seen “rummaging” through Borkum’s backpack — and then returned around 20 minutes later, kicking him “multiple” times, the report said. Borkum, a widower who was homeless at the time, died four days later of his injuries. Three suspects — Justin Curry, 13, Marcavion Lacey, 19, and Robert Pope, 17 — were arrested within hours of the attack. They were all indicted for murder on Nov. 20, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office press release.
