Trump’s ‘Doomsday Plane,’ built to survive nuclear war, is spotted flying across U.S. on undisclosed mission | 5 Nov 2026 | President Donald Trump’s emergency command aircraft was spotted flying east across the U.S. on Thursday after departing its home base in Nebraska on an undisclosed flight. The Boeing E-4B “Nightwatch,” commonly known as the “Doomsday Plane,” serves as a survivable airborne command post from which senior leaders can direct US forces, including nuclear forces, during a national emergency. Flight-tracking data showed the aircraft departing Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha and crossing the Midwest. The aircraft is now flying over northern Virginia, west of Washington, D.C., heading south. The purpose of the flight and the identities of anyone aboard have not been publicly confirmed.
