Gunman arrested at U.S. Capitol as cops swarm SUV | 14 July 2026 | A gunman was detained at a barricade just north of the US Capitol building around noon Monday. Law enforcement vehicles swarmed a Ford Bronco SUV ahead of the arrest. “We just arrested a man at the North Barricade of the U.S. Capitol who had a firearm. Firearms are prohibited on Capitol Grounds,” a spokesman for the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) said. “The North Barricade will be closed while the USCP investigates. Our investigators are working to learn more about the suspect and why he drove to the US Capitol.” Other reports indicated that the vehicle also contained a dog.
