The unidentified gunman fired from a rooftop as agents led into the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office just before 7 a.m. local time, just a month after there was a bomb threat there, Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News. Police said that one died at the scene, with the gunman also found dead at a sniper’s nest overlooking the carnage. The dead did not include law enforcement, but there are “other injuries, with some in critical condition,” McLaughlin said, calling it “monstrous.” The shooter opened fire while the detainees were being transferred and the portcullis to the facility was open, Fox News reported, citing authorities.
