Trump to leave G7 summit early to focus on conflict in Middle East, White House says | 16 June 2025 | President Donald Trump is cutting short his attendance at the Group of Seven summit in Canada, the White House said Monday night, citing the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X that "because of what's going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State." "I have to be back as soon as I can," Trump told reporters in response to a question Monday night about his plans to leave the summit early. "We’re gonna have dinner with these wonderful leaders and then I get on a plane. I have to be back early for obvious reasons." Trump has requested that the National Security Council be prepared in the Situation Room when he returns from the summit, an administration official told NBC News.
