A conservative social media influencer and trucker who goes by Chicago Ray posted a video clip in which he claims that some of his colleagues are going to stop making deliveries to New York City to protest the ruling, issued in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday. "I've been on the radio talking to drivers for about the past hour and I've talked to about ten drivers...and they're going to start refusing loads to New York City starting on Monday," Ray said <https://twitter.com/chicago1ray/status/1758674105446838535> in the video from inside his truck. He said he's already spoken to some drivers that work with him who told their boss they won't go to The Big Apple.

Key Donbass city of Avdeevka liberated - Moscow <https://www.rt.com/russia/592600-moscow-key-city-donbass/> | 17 Feb 2024 | Russian forces have "completely captured" the city of Avdeevka, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday. Some 1,500 Ukrainian troops were killed as they retreated, leaving their weapons and equipment behind, the ministry said. The seizure moves the front line further away from the city of Donetsk, thereby shielding its civilian population from bombardment by Ukrainian forces. Situated around 20km away, Avdeevka had been fortified and used as a staging ground for such attacks since 2014. "Under the continuous fire of Russian troops, only individual scattered formations of Ukrainian militants" managed to escape the city, the ministry said, stating that Kiev had lost 1,500 men in the 24 hours before the city was liberated.

House Intel Chairman announces 'serious national security threat,' sources say it is related to Russia <https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/14/politics/house-intel-chairman-serious-national-security-threat/index.html> | 14 Feb 2024 | House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner has made information concerning a "serious national security threat" available to all members of Congress to review, the committee said on Wednesday. While Turner and the White House remained vague on what the threat entailed, two sources and a U.S. official tell CNN the threat is related to Russia. Multiple sources familiar with the intelligence characterized it as "very sensitive." One of the sources who has seen the intelligence confirmed that "it is, in fact, a highly concerning and destabilizing" Russian capability "that we were recently made aware of." But House Speaker Mike Johnson later sought to soothe concerns about the unspecified threat, saying there is "no cause for alarm." [The new "national security threat" involving Russia reminds me of the bogus claims about Iraq's WMDs, the need to topple Libya's Gaddafi ("We came, we saw, he died"), and Assad's gassing his own people. Biden told reports in Delaware Saturday. "So it’s about time we make sure Congress come home and pass the legislation funding NATO." The Senate this week passed the bipartisan bill that would give 95.3 million in funding to the three allies for defense purposes, but the House of Representatives is on a two-week break and House Speaker Mike Johnson has said the House won't "rush" to pass it.

Willis last year indicted Trump and 18 co-defendants over his efforts to challenge the 2020 election results in Georgia. She had hired Wade as a special prosecutor to pursue the case. Co-defendant Mike Roman's attorney, Ashleigh Merchant, first raised allegations in January regarding Willis and Wade, claiming the pair "engaged in an improper, clandestine personal relationship" and Wade had profited from the case.

The House voted 214-213 to pass two articles of impeachment against Joe Biden's chief border enforcement officer on charges of "willful and systemic refusal to comply" with federal immigration law and lying to Congress about the border being "secure." Mayorkas, 64, is only the second Cabinet official to be impeached after Secretary of War William Belknap, who resigned in 1876 from President Ulysses S. Over the last few months alone, President Biden has mixed up world leaders and political figures, strained to address basic issues in public speeches, and wandered out of events in a disoriented state," Morrisey wrote in the letter... He detailed multiple instances in which Biden's advanced age and cognitive decline appeared to surface in his interactions with foreign leaders. "I am writing to urge you to invoke your powers under Section 4 of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment and declare that President Biden is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office," Morrisey added.

Abbott to construct 'forward operating base' for National Guard border efforts <https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/abbott-construct-forward-operating-base-national-guard-border-efforts> | 16 Feb 2024 | Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday announced the construction of a "forward operating base" near the southern border to bolster the National Guard's efforts to secure the border in the face of perceived federal apathy toward the unprecedented surge in illegal crossings. Abbott announced the base during a press conference in Eagle Pass. The base will be situated on 80 acres of land near Eagle Pass and able to house up to 1,800 troops in individual rooms, plus an additional 500 in the event of special deployments. "Texas is expanding our border security capabilities by building a new Texas Military Department base camp to increase and improve border security operations in this area," he said. "This will increase the ability for a larger number of Texas Military Department soldiers in Eagle Pass to operate more effectively and efficiently."

Chris Murphy, D-Conn., said Wednesday that the Democratic Party's push for a path to citizenship in border legislation has failed the people they "care about most" in this country, "undocumented Americans." MSNBC host Chris Hayes asked Murphy about the border security bill and said, rather than pushing for a path to citizenship in border legislation negotiations like the party has in the past, Democrats were using Ukraine funding. "Well, I mean, Chris, that's been a failed play for 20 years. So you are right that that has been the Democratic strategy for 30 years, maybe, and it has failed to deliver for the people we care about most, the undocumented Americans that are in this country," Murphy said.
