Federal judge rejects Newsom's emergency motion to block Trump's troop deployment | 10 June 2025 | A judge has denied California Gov. Gavin Newsom's for an immediate restraining order on Trump deploying the military in Los Angeles. U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer declined Newsom's emergency request, but granted the Trump administration's request for more time to respond to the governor's filing. A court hearing regarding the matter is scheduled for Thursday. California is suing Trump, accusing him of using federal troops and commandeering state National Guard personnel to carry out immigration enforcement despite objections from Newsom.
