Israeli delegation was unaware of Trump-Iran negotiations | 8 April 2025 | Israeli officials confirmed Tuesday that Israel had not been informed in advance of an agreement between President Donald Trump and Iranian officials to open negotiations between the sides. "The shock was visible on people's faces," said a source in the Israeli delegation to Washington. Nonetheless, senior officials are attempting to downplay the element of surprise, saying, "We knew a development was possible," since Trump had repeatedly spoken about his desire for negotiations to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue. A diplomatic source added that the update given to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the talks, along with the intention to involve Israel in the substance of the negotiations, are "very positive aspects."
