Russia frees jailed U.S. national - White House | 11 Feb 2025 | Russia has released U.S. national Marc Fogel following negotiations with President Donald Trump’s advisors, the White House announced on Tuesday. Fogel, a former schoolteacher and U.S. diplomat, was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2022 on drug trafficking charges. On Tuesday morning, multiple sites reported that a private jet belonging to US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff had entered Russian airspace and landed in Moscow. The U.S. ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracey was later seen by RIA Novosti at the Russian ministry of foreign affairs.
