FBI sweeping French Quarter, Bourbon Street for explosive devices | 1 Jan 2025 | The Federal Bureau of Investigation is sweeping the New Orleans French Quarter after a believed terrorist attack killed 10 people and injured more than 20. It happened around 3:15 a.m. toward the end of New Year's celebrations in New Orleans and hours before the kickoff of the AllState Bowl, a college football quarterfinal held in the city's Caesars Superdome, with thousands expected to be in attendance. Agents responded to what is believed to be "suspicious devices" found in the area, followed by agents screaming "fire in the hole." Two small explosions were heard at the intersection of Dauphine and Orleans after FBI agents responded to possible explosive devices in the area.
