Trump admin cancels $300M in US taxpayer funds to Pakistan over terror record | 02 Sept 2018 | The U.S. military said it has made a final decision to cancel $300 million in aid to Pakistan, accusing Islamabad of not doing enough to root out militants from its border region with Afghanistan. Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Kone Faulkner said in a statement to Reuters on Saturday that if the cuts are approved by Congress, the Pentagon aimed to spend the money on "other urgent priorities." The Coalition Support Funds -- which the Pentagon is now proposing to cut -- were part of a broader suspension of aid to Pakistan announced by President Donald Trump at the start of the year.

California lawmakers vote to pass toughest net neutrality law in the nation

California lawmakers vote to pass toughest net neutrality law in the nation | 31 Aug 2018 | California lawmakers rallied enough votes Friday to pass the nation's toughest net neutrality law to prevent Internet providers from favoring certain websites, setting up a fight with federal regulators who voted last year to erase such rules. If Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signs the law in the coming weeks, California will become the powerhouse in a growing group of states at odds with the Federal Communications Commission in a clash that could end up before the Supreme Court. The legislation, which was the subject of intense lobbying by the broadband industry, would prevent Internet providers from blocking, slowing or favoring certain websites.

Reported Russia probe source at center of whistleblower complaint over Pentagon contracts

Reported Russia probe source at center of whistleblower complaint over Pentagon contracts | 29 Aug 2018 | The professor who reportedly assisted the FBI's Russia probe as a confidential source is at the center of a Defense Department whisteblower complaint that alleges government contractor abuses, as well as excessive payments with taxpayer dollars, according to interviews and documents reviewed by Fox News. The complaint was filed by attorney Sean Bigley on behalf of Pentagon lawyer Adam Lovinger. Earlier this month, conservative watchdog Judicial Watch announced it was suing the Defense Department on behalf of Lovinger to force the release of emails and other electronic messages after Lovinger had his security clearance suspended. Bigley, who is representing Lovinger pro bono, said his client flagged the concerns about contractors -- including Stefan Halper, the professor -- as early as 2016, to Lovinger's leadership at the Office of Net Assessment (ONA), which is like an internal Pentagon think tank.

Trump says 'no reason' for costly war games with South Korea, blames China for stalemate with North

Trump says 'no reason' for costly war games with South Korea, blames China for stalemate with North | 29 Aug 2018 | US President Donald Trump has blamed Beijing for the lack of progress on North Korea's denuclearization, saying China has put North Korea "under tremendous pressure" in response to a trade war Trump had started in the first place. The White House statement, posted by Trump in a string of tweets, says that the US President "feels strongly" that Pyongyang has been a subject of "tremendous pressure from China because of our major trade disputes with the Chinese Government." Despite the White House's failure to reach any substantial progress in implementing the loosely worded agreement between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Trump, reached at the bilateral summit in June, the statement stresses that Trump believes his relationship with Kim is a "very good and warm one, and there is no reason at this time to be spending large amounts of money on joint US-South Korea war games."

White Helmets accompany large delivery of poisonous chemicals to militants in Syria - MoD | 28 Aug 2018 | A large supply of chemicals has been delivered to the militants in Syria's Idlib with the assistance of the White Helmets aid terrorist group in order to stage a provocation and blame the Syrian government, Russia's Defense Ministry said. The Russian military has received information from several sources in Idlib Province that "a large supply of poisonous agents has been brought to the city of Saraqib on two trucks from the village of Afs," Major-General Aleksey Tsygankov, head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria, said in a statement. The chemicals were delivered to an arms depot, used by the militant group Ahrar al-Sham, "accompanied by the eight members of the White Helmets organization," Tsygankov said, adding that the cargo was met by two high-ranked Ahrar al-Sham commanders.

Landmark Seventh Circuit Decision Says Fourth Amendment Applies to Smart Meter Data

Landmark Seventh Circuit Decision Says Fourth Amendment Applies to Smart Meter Data | 25 Aug 2018 | The Seventh Circuit just handed down a landmark opinion, ruling 3-0 that the Fourth Amendment protects energy-consumption data collected by smart meters. Smart meters collect energy usage data at high frequencies--typically every 5, 15, or 30 minutes--and therefore know exactly how much electricity is being used, and when, in any given household. The court recognized that data from these devices reveals intimate details about what's going on inside the home that would otherwise be unavailable to the government without a physical search. The court held that residents have a reasonable expectation of privacy in this data and that the government's access of it constitutes a "search."

Kansas government didn't tell Wichita-area residents their water was contaminated for 6 years

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment didn't act for more than six years.

Lanny Davis Says He Was a Source for CNN's Trump Tower Story

Lanny Davis Says He Was a Source for CNN's Trump Tower Story --Davis, Cohen's lawyer and spokesperson, said he also regrets lying about his involvement in the story on CNN's air last week. | 27 Aug 2018 | Attorney Lanny Davis says he was an anonymous source in a July CNN story that reported his client, Michael Cohen, had privately claimed that President Trump had advance knowledge of the Trump Tower meeting between his son and Russians -- contradicting Davis's own words on CNN's air last week. In the story, Cohen was reported to claim he had personally witnessed Donald Trump Jr. informing then-candidate Trump about the June 2016 meeting. Such a claim from Cohen would directly contradict Trump's statements about his knowledge of the meeting, where Russians were set to offer dirt on Hillary Clinton. CNN's July 26 story has come under fresh scrutiny in recent days after Davis acknowledged he had served as an anonymous source for multiple news outlets who were seeking to confirm the CNN article in the hours after it published.

US plans to use fake chemical weapons attack to strike Syria - Russian MoD | 27 Aug 2018 | The US may have plans to use a fake chemical attack in Syria to hit government forces with airstrikes, the Russian Defense Ministry has said. Washington is already building up strike capability in the Middle East, it said. The warning comes a day after the Russian military said it had information about a looming provocation in Syria's Idlib governorate, which would involve a staged chemical weapons attack. The US earlier warned it would respond to a chemical weapons attack by Syrian government forces with retaliatory strikes, which would be stronger than those conducted by the US, the UK and France in April.

Fluoridation is mass medication, NZ Supreme Court rules

Fluoridation is mass medication, NZ Supreme Court rules | 28 June 2018 | Water fluoridation is compulsory mass medication, in breach of human rights, the Supreme Court has ruled by a majority vote. It confirmed that fluoridation is a medical treatment as claimed by opponents for over 60 years. It is not a supplement "just topping up natural levels", as claimed by the Ministry of Health. The impracticality of avoiding fluoridated water makes it compulsory in practice, the majority also ruled. Three judges held that there was conflicting scientific evidence, confirming that the science is NOT settled. Chief Justice Sian Elias then held that fluoridation was not prescribed by law (i.e., is unlawful), applying section 6 of the Bill of Rights Act.

McNasty

Flashback: McNasty | 13 June 2008 | Retired Army Colonel Earl Hopper, a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, contends that the information that [John] McCain divulged classified information North Vietnam used to hone their air defense system. Hopper’s son, Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Earl Pearson Hopper was, like McCain, shot down over North Vietnam. Hopper the younger, however, was declared "Missing in Action." According to the elder Hopper, McCain told his North Vietnamese captors, "highly classified information, the most important of which was the package routes, which were routes used to bomb North Vietnam. He gave in detail the altitude they were flying, the direction, if they made a turn… he gave them what primary targets the United States was interested in." Hopper contends that the information McCain provided allowed the North Vietnamese to adjust their air-defenses. As result, Hopper claims, the US lost sixty percent more aircraft and in 1968, "called off the bombing of North Vietnam, because of the information McCain had given to them."

John McCain: When 'Tokyo Rose' Ran for President

Flashback: John McCain: When 'Tokyo Rose' Ran for President --What Was John McCain's True Wartime Record in Vietnam? | 09 March 2015 | Shocking claims were made that McCain may never have been tortured and that he instead spent his wartime captivity collaborating with his captors and broadcasting Communist propaganda, a possibility that seemed almost incomprehensible to me given all the thousands of contrary articles that I had absorbed over the decades from the mainstream media. ...However, those new doubts about McCain were still in my mind a few months later when I stumbled upon Sidney Schanberg's massively documented expose about McCain’s role in the POW/MIA cover up, a vastly greater scandal...According to him, it was hardly a secret in veterans' circles that McCain had spent much of the war producing Communist propaganda broadcasts since these had regularly been played in the prisoner camps as a means of breaking the spirits of those American POWs who resisted collaboration. Over the years, other Vietnam veterans have publicly leveled similar charges, and Schanberg had speculated that McCain’s leading role in the POW cover up might have been connected with the pressure he faced due to his notorious wartime broadcasts.

Rand Paul sparks firestorm by revealing that John McCain posed with ISIS-linked jihadists in Syria

Flashback: Rand Paul sparks firestorm by revealing that John McCain posed with ISIS-linked jihadists in Syria | 19 Sept 2014 | Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul was walloped on Thursday by a series of media reports that concluded he was wrong to claim fellow GOP Sen. John McCain of Arizona unwittingly met with ISIS [I-CIA-SIS] terrorists when he held a secret 2013 meeting with rebel leaders in Syria. 'Here’s the problem,' Paul told The Daily Beast on Tuesday. 'He [McCain] did meet with ISIS, and had his picture taken, and didn't know it was happening at the time.' On the Senate floor Wednesday, Paul doubled down. Majority of Clinton Related Emails on Weiner's Laptop Never Examined

Majority of Clinton Related Emails on Weiner's Laptop Never Examined | 24 Aug 2018 | New evidence suggests that former FBI Director James Comey was incorrect when he told Congress that the bureau had "reviewed all of the communications" from top Clinton aide Huma Abedin on her disgraced husband, Anthony Weiner's laptop. The communications had been discovered just days before the pivotal 2016 presidential election and forced the FBI to reopen their investigation into the Clinton email scandal...Comey later told Congress that "thanks to the wizardry of our technology," the FBI was able to eliminate the vast majority of messages as "duplicates" of emails they'd previously seen. Tireless agents, he claimed, then worked "night after night after night" to scrutinize the remaining material. But virtually none of his account was true, a growing body of evidence reveals.
