Eight Republicans voted with every present Democrat to vacate the speaker's chair. The final vote was 216 to 210 in favor of McCarthy's ouster. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., introduced a measure against McCarthy known as a motion to vacate on Monday night, accusing him of breaking promises he made to win the speaker's gavel in January.

Matt Gaetz's effort to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his position. The motion to vacate is an up or down vote of yea, nay or present. Many Democrats voted in favor of removing McCarthy along with 7 conservative Republicans. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), regarded as a moderate Republican from a purple district, also voted to remove. The final vote count is 216 in favor and 210 against. Members including former House Speaker Nanci Pelosi did not vote.  Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla) made the motion to table the effort but it failed. House Democrats voted with a small group of conservatives against tabling the motion in a 208 to 218 vote.

President Trump on Tuesday delivered brief remarks to the press before he entered the courtroom. Trump blasted New York Attorney General Letitia James as a fraud. "This trial is a rigged trial, it's a fraudulent trial. The Attorney General is a fraud and we have to expose her as that," Trump said of the non-jury trial.

Hunter Biden pleads not guilty to federal firearms charges <https://justthenews.com/government/courts-law/hunter-biden-expected-plead-not-guilty-federal-firearms-charges-arraignment> --The appearance comes as House Republicans ramp up their impeachment inquiry into President [sic] Biden. | 3 Oct 2023 | Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to federal firearms charges on Tuesday at a Delaware-based federal court during his arraignment, which marked the first time a sitting president's child has appeared to fight criminal charges in court. Joe Biden's son entered the not guilty plea before Magistrate Judge Christopher Burke on three charges after he allegedly made a false statement on a federal gun form and illegally owned a firearm while using illegal drugs. The plea was expected, per a court filing last month from Biden's attorney Abbe Lowell. Burke also said at the hearing that Hunter Biden has continued to pass the drug tests that were administered. Another trial date has not been set. Last month Burke rejected Biden's request to appear virtually for the first hearing in the case, requiring the first son to travel from his home in California to Wilmington, Delaware, to face the charges.

General Mike Flynn Warns 2024 May Be the Last Election We Have as a Republic <https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/10/general-mike-flynn-warns-2024-may-be-last/> | 3 Oct 2023 | Lt. General Michael Flynn warned the American people, and particularly the leaders of the GOP, that the upcoming 2024 election might be the last chance to preserve the Republic as we know it. In a post on X, Flynn urgently appealed to Republican Governors and politicians to unite behind former President Donald Trump for the preservation of American democracy and freedom. "Every Republican Governor running for POTUS (or not) and all others have to put their egos aside and swallow their pride and get behind Donald Trump immediately. Otherwise, we risk 2024 being the last election to maintain our Republic." Flynn went on to say, "Never in US history have we seen such a domestic assault on the fabric of our democracy, with external support from outside dark forces (not a conspiracy theory)."

Texas congressman Henry Cuellar carjacked at gunpoint in Washington, D.C. <https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-congressman-henry-cuellar-carjacked-washington-dc> --Three men carjacked the congressman at gunpoint while he was parking his car in the district's Navy Yard neighborhood, Cuellar's chief of staff said | 3 Oct 2023 | U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, was the victim of an armed carjacking Monday night in Washington, D.C., Fox News Digital confirmed. The longtime Democratic congressman was in the Navy Yard neighborhood when the incident took place at about 9:30 p.m., according to U.S. Capitol Police. The agency, along with Metropolitan Police Department, responded to the scene at New Jersey Avenue and K Street Southeast. The entire block is closed off as police investigate. Police are searching for three suspects, described as Black men wearing all black clothing, in connection with the carjacking, MPD said in an alert. Cuellar's stolen vehicle, a white Honda CHR, has since been recovered.

Unearthed Strategic Plan Unveils Army Corps of Engineers' Goal to Force DEI Onto Service Members <https://thefederalist.com/2023/09/29/unearthed-strategic-plan-unveils-army-corps-of-engineers-goal-to-force-dei-onto-service-members/> | 29 Sept 2023 | A strategic plan produced by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) reveals how the branch intends to force neo-Marxism onto its members over the next three fiscal years. Titled "USACE Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) Strategic Plan," the 27-page document obtained by The Federalist outlines how USACE plans to inject DEIA into the branch over the next three years (2023-2026). According to Lt. Gen. Scott Spellmon, USACE's commanding general, the plan was crafted to comply with Executive Order 14035, a directive issued by Joe Biden in June 2021 mandating federal agencies adopt DEI throughout their respective workforces. For context, DEIA, or DEI, is a divisive ideology that dismisses merit and discriminates based on features such as skin color and sexual orientation.
