Statement to Britain from CLG Founder and Chair I am appalled by this tragedy. I visited London only a short time ago, to conduct research. I traveled the very lines in question. London is a wonderful city filled with wonderful people. I am sorry that this has happened. I cannot help thinking that our two governments share in the responsibility here, for failing to adequately protect us, but primarily, for their collective policies. Al Qaeda has tried to tell us that their war on us is in response to our ACTIONS and POLICIES and not to our "freedoms" or "beliefs." In addition to our support of oppressive regimes, they believe our support of Israel's occupation of Palestine is part of a war on Islam. On top of that, we are killing thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan.. The imperial hubris of our twinned nations is coming home to roost. I am not exonerating the terrorists. I condemn all acts of terror, including those carried out by official governments. Our respective peoples are collateral damage in a feud between tribal chiefs, East and West. We are not to blame, but our leaders are. I suggest the following book by a former CIA head of Osama bin Laden operations for understanding why this is happening to us: Imperial Hubris: Why The West Is Losing The War On Terror, by Michael Scheuer.
