Failing that, he planned to join another branch of the military. Lanza first made his military aspirations known when he was 17. On the day of the Newtown shootings, Lanza was clad in body armor, black clothing and wielding a Bushmaster rifle [aka the gun 'left in the car'], equivalent to a military M16. He was also armed with a 9mm Glock originally used by the Austrian military -- and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Ray Corbo, first assistant fire chief at Newtown Hook and Ladder, was quoted in an interview on the EMSWorld web site: "...Everybody leaves the scene with a lot of questions, and if you can get those questions answered, it makes it a lot easier."
The interview then states that Corbo and his colleagues were dispatched at 10 a.m. Friday and assisted Sandy Hook firefighters, setting up a second triage area, roughly 300 yards from the school in a parking lot behind the Sandy Hook firehouse. Corbo worked at the command post about 100 feet in front of the school building, where the first triage area was set up.
Maybe they had an answer for this - the Newtown police/fire scanner recording has a request to set up a triage area near the Sandy Hook Firehouse at 10:12: AM, and a request to set up a triage area at Sandy Hook Elementary School at 10:23 AM. I thought the idea of a triage was to decide which victims would survive even without immediate treatment, which would die regardless of immediate treatment, and which would live or die depending upon immediate treatment. Why would they set up a triage area 300 yards from the school FIRST? Why would they set up their triage area that distance from the school, and THEN decide to set one up AT the school? Why is the scanner timeline apparently inconsistent with Mr. Corbo's statement that the triage at the firehouse was the SECOND triage area?
