Senator Dayton: NORAD Lied About 9/11 --Mark Dayton has become the first U.S. senator to challenge the establishment consensus that "The 9/11 Commission Report" settles the open questions of Sept. 11, 2001. In hearings last Friday, Sen. Dayton (D-MN) raised an obvious point: if the timeline of air defense response as promoted in the Kean Commission's best-selling book is correct, then the timeline presented repeatedly by NORAD during the last two years was completely wrong.

Sen. Shelby Probe Referred to Ethics Panel --The Justice Department has referred to the Senate Ethics Committee an investigation into whether Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama or his staff leaked classified information, indicating that criminal charges are highly unlikely, a federal law enforcement official said Saturday. The investigation concerned the 2002 disclosure to news reporters of two messages intercepted by the National Security Agency a day before the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Those messages contained the words "the match begins tomorrow" and "tomorrow is zero day."

Manifest shows 13 bin Laden relatives left U.S. on charter flight --At least 13 relatives of Osama bin Laden, accompanied by bodyguards and associates, were allowed to leave the United States on a charter flight eight days after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, according to a passenger manifest released Wednesday. Though much was already known about the so-called "bin Laden flight," Lautenberg provided additional details, including the information that the plane, a 727 owned by DB Air and operated by Ryan International, began in Los Angeles and made stops in Orlando, Dulles and Boston before continuing on to Gander, Newfoundland, Paris, Geneva and Jeddah. The aircraft, tail number N521DB, has been chartered frequently by the White House for the press corps that travels with Dictator Bush.

Video Shows 9/11 Hijackers Clearing Security A law firm representing Sept. 11 victims' families released a security video on Wednesday that showed three hijackers setting off a metal detector at Washington Dulles International Airport the morning of the attacks. Airport screeners quickly checked them, apparently found nothing that raised suspicions, and allowed the hijackers to board American Airlines Flight 77, which plowed into the Pentagon less than 2 1/2 hours later.

FAA worker says hijacked jeltiners almost collided before striking World Trade Center --September 13, 2001 -- The two hijacked jets that sliced into the World Trade Center nearly crashed into each other before reaching New York City, according to a Federal Aviation Administration employee who works in the Nashua control facility. FAA air traffic controllers in Nashua have learned through discussions with other controllers that an F-16 fighter stayed in hot pursuit of another hijacked commercial airliner until it crashed in Pennsylvania, said the employee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. By 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the military had taken control of U.S. airspace, the employee said. The jet crashed into a field at 10:37 a.m.

Oh, but another 9-11 'Odditiy' Heightened Security Alert Had Just Been Lifted (September 12, 2001) The World Trade Center was destroyed just days after a heightened security alert was lifted at the landmark 110-story towers, security personnel said yesterday. Daria Coard, 37, a guard at Tower One, said the security detail had been working 12-hour shifts for the past two weeks because of numerous phone threats. But on Thursday, bomb-sniffing dogs were abruptly removed. "Today was the first day there was not the extra security," Coard said.

Leidig, Jr., entered into the record during today’s hearings before the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, Leidig revealed that on September 10 he was asked by Brigadier General Montague Winfield to stand a portion of his duty as Deputy Director for Operations for the National Military Command Center (NMCC), which would require supervision and operation of all necessary communications as watch commander. Leidig said 'On 10 September 2001, Brigadier General Winfield, U.S. Army, asked that I stand a portion of his duty as Deputy Director for Operations, NMCC, on the following day. [September 11] I agreed and relieved Brigadier General Winfield at 0830 on 11 September 2001.'"

TIA now verifies flight of Saudis --The government has long denied that two days after the 9/11 attacks, the three were allowed to fly. Two days after the Sept. 11 attacks, with most of the nation's air traffic still grounded, a small jet landed at Tampa International Airport, picked up three young Saudi men and left. The men, one of them thought to be a member of the Saudi royal family, were accompanied by a former FBI agent and a former Tampa police officer on the flight to Lexington, Ky. The Saudis then took another flight out of the country. The two ex-officers returned to TIA a few hours later on the same plane. For nearly three years, White House, aviation and law enforcement officials have insisted the flight never took place and have denied published reports and widespread Internet speculation about its purpose.

Fire Engineers Call WTC Probe 'Half-Baked Farce' A respected professional magazine read by firefighters and engineers is calling the investigation into the collapse of the World Trade Towers a farce and a sham. --by Christopher Bollyn "Fire Engineering magazine, the 125-year old journal of record among America's fire engineers and firefighters, recently blasted the investigation being conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the collapsed World Trade Center as a 'a half-baked farce.' Fire Engineering's editor, William Manning, issued a 'call to action' to America's firefighters and fire engineers in the January issue asking them to contact their representatives in Congress and officials in Washington to demand a blue ribbon panel to thoroughly investigate the collapse of the World Trade Center structures."

FBI Agent Was Prevented From Relaying Warning on 9/11 Hijackers More than a year before 9/11, CIA officials prevented an FBI agent working with the CIA from passing vital information to his agency on two suspected al CIAduh members — men who later would become Sept. 11 hijackers. The CIA maintains the information had already been passed to the FBI, and that was why the agent did not need to warn his bosses. The CIA cites a statement provided to Congress on Oct. 17, 2002. In it, CIA Director George Tenet refers to e-mails that agency officials say prove the information was provided to the FBI. FBI officials, however, told ABCNEWS they had no record of these e-mails.

Tenet Misspoke [Lied] About Not Meeting Bush CIA Director George Tenet misspoke [lied] Wednesday when he told a federal panel reviewing the Sept. 11 attacks that he did not meet with Dictator Bush in August 2001. Under questioning by commissioner Tim Roemer, Tenet said he never spoke with Bush during the month before the attacks, a period marked by concern over possible terrorist strike. In fact, Tenet flew to Texas to brief Bush on Aug. 17, 2001, and briefed the dictator again on Aug. 31 when Bush returned to Washington, a spokesman for Tenet said later in the day.

Pentagon crash 'too unrealistic' Five months before Sept. 11, 2001, the officers responsible for defending American airspace wanted to test their ability to prevent a hijacked airliner from being crashed into the Pentagon, but the scenario was rejected by the Joint Chiefs of Staff as impractical, a Joint Chiefs spokesman confirmed yesterday. The NORAD proposal is the clearest sign yet that national security officials were worried before 9/11 about terrorists using hijacked airliners as missiles, despite testimony that senior leaders, including National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, didn't know of such concerns.

Ashcroft warned of threat assessment on commercial flights in July, 2001 Ashcroft Flying High (July 26, 2001) Fishing rod in hand, Attorney General John Ashcroft left on a weekend trip to Missouri Thursday afternoon aboard a chartered government jet, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart. In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

Thinking Unthinkable Thoughts Theologian Charges White House Complicity in 9/11 Attack --by Nick Welsh "According to [author of The New Pearl Harbor, David Ray] Griffin, a case can be made that the Bush administration arranged the attack, or allowed it to happen... NICK WELSH: Is there a smoking gun that shows the Bush administration knew 9/11 was likely to happen and did nothing about it? DAVID RAY GRIFFIN: I think there are four. One is the fact that standard operating procedures for dealing with possibly hijacked airplanes were not followed on 9/11. Those procedures call for fighter jets to be sent out immediately upon any sign that a plane may have been hijacked. These jets typically get to the plane within no later than 15 minutes anywhere in the United States. And on that day, there were four airplanes that went for a half-hour or more after they were hijacked without jets intercepting them... And the other smoking guns? The second strongest piece of evidence I would say is the crash at the Pentagon. The physical evidence contradicts so violently the official account, that the Pentagon was hit by a Boeing 757 — Flight 77, that is. The physical evidence, photographs, and eyewitness testimony say that the Pentagon was hit by something that caused a hole no larger than 18 feet in diameter. The story the Pentagon put out, and was published by the Washington Post, was that the hole in the Pentagon was five stories high and 200 feet wide. If you look at the photographs taken by Tom Horan of the Associated Press — that’s just not the size of the hole. But if the hole was only 18 feet wide, it had to have been created by something other than a Boeing. Whatever went into the Pentagon pierced six reinforced walls. This was the west wing, the part of the Pentagon being refurbished and reinforced. These walls were extra strong, and yet whatever it was went through six walls creating a hole about seven feet in diameter in the sixth wall. This had to have been something with a very powerful head on it. A Boeing 757 has a very fragile nose, and would not have pierced through all those walls; it would have been crushed by hitting the Pentagon. And given that it only penetrated these three rings, the rest of the aircraft would have been sitting outside on the yard. And yet the photographs taken just as the fire trucks got there — very shortly after the crash — show no plane whatsoever. What do they show? They show no aircraft whatsoever. And everyone agrees on this. The official story is that the whole aircraft went inside the Pentagon. The problem with that — the firefighters in there would have seen the airplane. They would have seen the engines, they would have seen the aluminum fuselage, but they reported nothing."

9/11 Panel: Bush White House Withheld Papers --Commission Is Demanding Terrorism-Related Documents From Clinton Era --The commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks announced yesterday that it has identified 69 documents from the Clinton era that the Bush White House withheld from investigators and which include references to al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden and other issues relevant to the panel's work.

'Armageddon' Plan Was Put Into Action on 9/11, Clarke Says An "Armageddon" program designed to ensure that the federal government would continue to 'function' [?!?] in the aftermath of a nuclear war was put into place during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Former counterterrorism official Richard A. Clarke told ABC's "Nightline," "Every federal agency was ordered, on the morning of 9/11, to activate an alternative command post, an alternative headquarters outside of Washington, D.C., and to staff it as soon as possible." The Washington Post reported in 2002 that as part of the plan, Bush has dispatched a shadow government of about 100 senior 'civilian managers' [?!?] to live and work secretly outside Washington.

German Court Frees Sept. 11 Suspect Pending His Retrial The only man convicted in connection with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, Mounir el-Motassadeq, was released today by a German court pending a new trial later this year. "We are especially dismayed by problems in the production of the records of activities of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and certain Air Force commands on September 11, 2001," it said.

At a time when all private aviation was grounded, top officials allowed charter flights to pick up Saudis around the country and then leave for Saudi Arabia. FBI closes investigation on pre-911 stock and option trading After the 9-11 attacks, in which terrorists commandeered planes owned by the two biggest airlines, United and American, traders in the Chicago options market noticed suspicious pre-Sept. 11 spikes in volume. Put options for stocks in the airlines' parent companies, UAL Corp. and AMR Corp., registered huge trading increases in the week before the attacks. Investors can use puts, which confer the right to sell a stock at a pre-determined price, to make money when the underlying share price falls, similar to shorting a stock. The terrorist attacks and their effect on the travel industry caused shares of UAL and AMR to fall dramatically when the markets reopened Sept. 17. FBI spokesman Ed Cogswell said most of the options trading was carried out by hedge funds with bearish outlooks. He did not name any of the funds, which pursue risky investment strategies on behalf of wealthy clients.

CIA 'had Sept 11 pilots on its files' In its second revelation in as many weeks, the German magazine Stern reports in its latest issue that the Central Intelligence Agency CIA had two of the September 11 terror pilots on its files well ahead of the terror attacks. In its edition to appear on Thursday, Stern said that in addition to Marwan Alshehhi, the CIA also must have known that Lebanese national Ziad Jarrah was connected to el-Qaeda but that the US let him enter the country anyway for pilot training.
